Vacant position on the Chesterfield Conservation Commission

The Conservation Commission currently has a vacancy for a three-year term. Membership on
the Commission is by appointment through the Select Board. It is a volunteer position. Duties
include serving as the issuing authority for permits under the Wetlands Protection Act.
Knowledge of the law and knowledge of the biology of wetlands can be obtained at no expense
through the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions. We conduct site visits
and hearings in the process of issuing permits. In addition, the Commission acts as a voice for
land conservation in the community by providing information and support about land
protection to landowners and the community at large. Soon the Commission will be an agent of
the renewed Open Space Plan. We meet monthly on the third Monday of the month. If
